Dr. Ben was born in Edina, Minnesota. Growing up, his dad worked in academics for athletes for universities, which moved them around the country a lot. They landed at Florida State University in Tallahassee during his high school years. He attended Lincoln High School and enjoyed playing football for the Trojans. He went on to the University of Colorado at Boulder and was a walk on freshman for the Buffs football team. His wife, Shannon, is a multi-generational Tallahassee native. They met in high school and dated throughout college and married in 2002. Not long after they were wed, he attended Louisiana State University School of Dentistry and graduated in 2007 and has been working in private practice since.
Dr. Ben and Shannon have three, wonderful children, Jack, Paige and Barrett. They enjoy spending time together as a family, traveling and getting outdoors — hiking, going to the beach, boating, paddleboarding, biking, kayaking and snow skiing in the winter months. Dr. Ben comes from a large, blended family, so they get to visit family all over the country from Florida to Minnesota to California. When he’s not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys running.
