Dear Dr. Evans,
I had used a C-Pap for over 15 years, constantly hating it. My first
C-Pap was bulky, heavy, and noisy. The second C-Pap was an improvement
but still created some noise and both were difficult with which to
travel. They took up valuable luggage space. I always had to carry an
extension cord and a multiple outlet adapter to be certain that the
C-pap could be placed next to my bed in hotels, on cruises, or when
staying with friends or relatives. I couldn't sleep without the C-Pap,
without being overly fatigued the next day. However, in all the years
that I used a C-Pap, I never went a night without waking up many times
due to being "tethered". Every time I moved or turned while sleeping, I
would have to adjust the C-Pap mask for comfort. One of my biggest
complaints was the marks which I had on each cheek from the headgear.
They were beginning to be permanent and looked like scars. They never
really went away during the day.
I had heard about an oral appliance that could help people with sleep
apnea, but I was skeptical. I was doing OK even though I was unhappy
(no, miserable) about having to use a C-Pap. I was afraid that I would
get it, and it wouldn't work for me. And I would have spent all that
money for nothing. Well, I was wrong! The SomnoDent MAS was the best
thing that could have happened to me. From the very first night, I knew
that I had made the right decision. I had no difficulty adjusting to
it. I can put the SomnoDent in place, climb in bed and read for a
while, and turn out the lights when I feel sleepy. I am no longer
attached to anything and can sleep in any position. Cleaning is easy
and there are no parts to replace. Traveling is so much easier - the
small cup will even fit in my purse. And best of all, my bedroom is
quiet again. No C-Pap noise and no snoring!
Thank you, Dr. Evans. I would certainly recommend this product to any
of your patients who suffer from sleep apnea.
Sincerely,
Patty Coddington
